It seemed like the Sheep weren't quite ready for the season to start. We had some difficulty fielding a team, but managed to have 8 at game time. By the 2nd inning we were able to fill the field. We didn't have much trouble with the Negotiators and the only Negotiating they did was getting the ump to call a few balls to they could walk in a couple runs. The game was never in question. The Sheep hit well and also played the field well. The wind was gusty, which made pitching more challenging. A good start to the season. |

Close game against a former St. Louis Park opponent. Sheep struggled at the plate and went 368 as a team. |

Beer struggled in the field in the 1st 2 innings and gave us 7 runs. The Sheep's defense on the other hand was pretty tough and held Beer to only 2 runs in the first 5 innings. Beer hit well in the 6th to score 4 more. Beer had two lefties, but both liked to hit up the middle. No deep ball hitters. Shaky defense. Pitcher likes to pitch inside to all the men. |

We had a tough night at the plate. We batted a season low 192 and only got 5 hits all night. They had solid defense so we only ended up with 3 runs in the game. The good news was our defense - which held the #1 team to only 4 runs. But that was 1 run too many and the Sheep lost a tough one to the league's 1st place team. |

One of the finest comebacks in Sheep history. We gave up 7 runs to the last place team in the first 2 innings. So we had to come from behind the entire game. We were down by 6 in the 6th inning and scored 10 to take a 4 run lead. Our first 6 batters in the 6th scored! We stopped them in the 7th inning with bases loaded to preserve the 4 run victory. We batted a season best 538 with an amazing 1026 slugging percentage as a team. Excellent game Sheep! |

Jessi stepped in as pitcher and did a fine job. She had 6 strike-outs on then night. The women would watch the pitches and the men went down swinging. #47 SS hits deep to LF. Bigger 3B hits bloopers to RF. They had two pitchers, both of whom struggled a bit. We had 2 innings with 7 runs each - but we got a little help with 6 of their defensive errors. Our defense was solid and they only scored in 1 inning. |

The Sheep had 2 tough inning in the field to start the game. We gave up 14 total runs, many of which were unearned. After that we had good defense and some hitting, but not enough to get back in the game. Tallest RC guy hits deep to LF. SS likes to place it in shallow RCF. Lefty hits weak grounders. |

Their short stop hit 2 over the fence. The rest of the team was decent at the plate. They gave us chances by making a few errors, but we weren't hitting very well and we couldn't make that 3rd out. They only scored in two innings, but those were both bad innings. We struggled at the mound and walked a few too many. |

The Sheep played a nice game. We hit better than we had in any other game this year. We were 553 as a team and our opponents didn't make many mistakes in the field. We just couldn't keep them at bay when they were batting. They were getting legitimate hits and we just couldn't do anything about it. A well played game on a great night for softball! |

Plays of the Week:
May 5:
Play of the game goes to Kayne for batting 1000 on the night and even trying not to walk with a lazy swing at an outside pitch. I guess next time you'll have to try and sell that one a little harder - maybe reach and fall swinging or something. They'd have to call that a strike.
June 16:
Play of the game goes to Chris for a diving catch on a line drive to 3rd base. Nice defense Christo!
June 23:
To the ump for digging way down in the rule book and telling Kayne that he couldn't wear his hat backwards while coaching 1st base. What ?!(#%&#*@ We looked it up after the game and he was right! If a hat is worn as part of the uniform, it must be worn with the bill facing forward - with the exception of the catcher wearing a face mask. Boy, we have a lot to learn.
June 30:
Rich for the great post game plan to hit the lake after the big win. A classic move from the Sheep's playbook. We've got to do more of this in the future!
July 7:
Tracy with a sweet double play ball at 2nd base. She backed into the grass to catch a pop up and then alertly threw back to 1st base to get one of their guys who decided to lead off too far. Nice play!
July 14:
Neil Chaffee for hitting 3 for 3 on the night. All nice singles, nothing fancy. That is how you play the game!
July 21:
Matt Walfoort for a great fully outstretched snag in the outfield. Nice grab! And you almost got the double play on the runner going back to second.
July 28:
Jessi for her excellent hitting. Three for three with three runs! She was able to find that perfect spot behind the short stop and in front of left center field on EACH ONE!
